Yanis Varoufakis is a Greek economist, academic, and politician who rose to international fame as Greece’s Minister of Finance in 2015, where he gained a reputation for his defiant stance against EU-imposed austerity measures during the debt crisis. Since resigning from the cabinet, he co-founded the pan-European movement DiEM25 and has become a prolific author, most notably developing the theory of “Technofeudalism” to describe how Big Tech has replaced traditional capitalism with a rent-based digital economy. Today, he remains a prominent leftist intellectual and the leader of the MeRA25 party, frequently lecturing globally on the intersection of technology, power, and political economy.
